Mike and Nancy purchased the Alta Vista Cafe in June of 1998. After a couple of weeks of remodeling, the restaurant was reopened as Cousins Family Restaurant. The name change was inspired by an old photo of Mike's Great Grandfather Hans and Grandfather Niels, that currently hangs in the restaurant. A cousin of Grandpa Niels challenged Niels to prove his sobriety by being able to sit on a couple of upended beer bottles. The photo taken by the cousin settled the argument! The entire west wall of Cousins is covered with old photos from Mike and Nancy's families, plus a few more. When you stop in, look closely at the photos to see if you can spot the humorous situations that most of these old photos show.
